POTOP(๐’ป๐“๐‘œ๐‘œ๐’น) is a speculative work of fiction.ย It is a performance and a short novel with a hydro-poetic storytelling narrative. It takes references from eco- and solar punk, post-human theories, speculative sci-fi, witchcraft, rituals, climate change sciences, and socialist democracy. In essence, the work serves as a critique of inequality, the handling of the current climate crisis, neoliberalism, capitalism, and the attitude toward technological advancements.ย Both the written and the physical work have dark undertones of a post-apocalyptic future, but glimpses of hope and light pierce through, making way for imagining a better tomorrow while inspiring a course of action.ย
The work was conceived at the beginningย of my master's studies at the "Frank Mohr Institute" and developed through a handful of performances, and extensive research. For my graduation show, I presented a choreographed version, accompanied by a sound piece, costumes, sculptures, and an installation. POTOP was performed by Sofรญa Murillo Lommers, Wang Xoo, and myself. Music was made with the help of Pieter Lam and Haney Lee. Below you can also find documentation from exhibitions at project spaces SIGN and WEP, and the RE: Search Gallery, in Groningen.ย
