From the beginning of time, humans have been speculating about possible futures or undiscovered lands. Sometimes utopic and other times dark and warning.ย Nonetheless, sci-fi/speculative narration has modified our vision of the future, and therefore deeply alternated our present. Stories help us to imagine the unpredictable, they do not give clear answers and are far more powerful than reality. New ways of telling them will inspire people to look differently at the world, to sketch out probable futures, and to go through exercises in which they can be sensitized to the world around them, to show them how magnetic forces, all the lifeforms and everything around is interpenetrating all of the time. It matters what stories we tell to tell other stories with; it matters what knots knot knots, what thoughts think thoughts, what descriptions describe descriptions, and what ties tie ties. It matters what stories make worlds, what worlds make stories, as stories shape history, politics, economy, and all life itself. We are nothing without them, they build reality, aid the present, preserve the past, and move us toward the future. Whatโ€™s important is to keep telling the other story, the untold one, the life story. To keep building the needed worlds and mute the deadly ones.
